The mass extinction of species is just as threatening to humanity as climate change – and yet it is often overlooked. Journalists often find it difficult to cover topics related to biodiversity.

In the Deep Dive workshop at Museum Koenig Bonn, one of Germany's most important natural history museums, journalists and researchers work together to find ways to report more deeply and constructively on the biodiversity crisis and species conservation.

Biodiversity researchers provide insight into the most important developments in the species crisis and its effects. Journalists will share best practice examples and discuss their experiences in reporting on biodiversity: What worked well? Where were the difficulties? And (when) does it make sense to consider the species crisis and the climate crisis separately – or should both environmental crises be viewed and presented more in context?

During guided tours of the museum's exhibitions and collections, journalists can also learn how biodiversity research is actually conducted today and how new knowledge about species diversity and the future of nature can be derived from collections.
