Journalism that fails to include diverse perspectives risks losing public trust. When people are excluded from participating in the creation of media, they can be misrepresented, stereotyped, or their stories forgotten entirely. This can lead to a breakdown of trust in the media, and can cause people to turn to less reliable sources of information. This panel will discuss the urgent question: how can we embed systemic change in the newsroom so that journalism represents the society it serves, and thus engages and builds trust with its audiences?
