When Oskar Piegsa became the education editor for the Hamburg section of DIE ZEIT in March 2020, he was familiar with the academic world, but the school system seemed to him 'like a new planet'. Previously, he was an editor and, most recently, editor-in-chief of ZEIT CAMPUS, the student magazine of DIE ZEIT (2012-2020), and the coronavirus pandemic turned into an education policy crash course for him. Thanks to the Nina Grunenberg Fellowship, Piegsa was able to broaden his perspective beyond the borders of Hamburg.
