Lea Thies heads the Günter Holland School of Journalism (GHJS) at the Augsburger Allgemeine , where she is responsible for training young journalists. She completed her traineeship at Dewezet , earned a Master’s degree in Global Politics in London, and worked as a reporter for over 20 years. Today, she focuses on topics such as trainee upskilling, digital transformation, mental health in journalism, and personal branding for journalists. She also develops concepts to strengthen journalism’s relevance and build trust in the media. For this reason, she has integrated constructive journalism into the GHJS curriculum. Lea Thies is an enthusiastic team player and actively involved in " iNNEN – Network for Women in Journalism " as well as in the " Jule – Young Readers Initiative ". Together with the latter, she launched the trainee recruitment campaign volo-werden.de.
