Karlijn Goossen spends much of her time exploring how journalism changes — and who helps make that change happen. A journalism strategist, researcher, keynote speaker and leadership coach with more than 20 years of experience across media, academia and public-service journalism, she works with newsroom leaders, boards and journalism funds on leadership, culture, innovation, audience trust and public value. Her (doctoral) research explores how leadership emerges in everyday newsroom practice through dialogue, curiosity, collaborative inquiry and shared learning. She is co-founder of the Dutch House of Journalism, a board member of Fonds BJP and an active mentor across the journalism sector. Her work combines strategic thinking with a strong interest in more human-centred and caring approaches to journalism. She believes that meaningful change starts with bringing people together around good questions — or, as her colleagues like to joke, through an endless stream of coffee conversations about leadership.
