Defne Altıok is a digital journalist at +90, a DW-sponsored project developed with BBC, France 24 and VOA, BBC, dedicated to producing bespoke content for young audiences in Turkey. Having started her career in data-driven journalism, she joined DW through its traineeship program in 2018. Currently, she writes, edits, produces, and hosts content for +90, focusing on format development, constructive reporting, and data-driven journalism. She specializes in newsroom innovation and AI adoption, having participated in leading programs including LSE's JournalismAI Fellowship, CUNY’s AI Journalism Labs: Adoption Programme and SJN's Bridging News Fellowship. Her work spans developing new editorial frameworks and building AI-driven tools for newsrooms, including systems for agenda tracking, news recommendation, and bias detection.
