In less than a decade, Danish digital newspaper, Zetland, has grown to more than 40.000 paid members through slow, relatable storytelling and a commitment to listening to its members. And when members asked for the option to listen to stories, the team decided to do it right and make listening at least as compelling as reading. As the membership base grew, so did the audio ratio - and now, 4 out of 5 stories are heard.Audio versions are narrated by the reporter and highly edited - providing an intimate space for the listener. But building this experience of deep listening requires much more than the actual montage of the story. In this session, Morten share a broader range of approaches in Zetland’s platform design that support a sense of presence and listening.
