Simon studied political science and journalism at the University of Zurich. After an internship at Watson, he set up his own business and, together with a group of motivated journalists, founded and promoted Tsüri.ch in 2015. His commitment to the industry extends beyond the city limits: he is a founding member and Vice-President of the association Medien mit Zukunft, where he campaigns for the future of the industry. He is also Vice-President of the patrons' association for the Press Council and a jury member of the Zurich Journalism Prize. In 2024, he was voted Swiss Local Journalist of the Year.
