Minh Thu Tran studied political science at LMU Munich and did her journalism training at the German School of Journalism with on-the job training at the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, the Y-Kollektiv and the public radio program Deutschlandfunk Nova. Since January 2018, she has been a freelance journalist in Cologne, primarily working as a reporter and podcaster for Deutschlandfunk Nova and German regional broadcaster WDR. In 2017, Minh Thu Tran was a fellow at Netzwerk Recherche. In 2019, she was selected as one of the "Top 30 under 30" in German journalism by medium magazin. Her work has been recognized with the Kindernothilfe Media Prize, the Civis Media Prize and the Karl Wilhelm Fricke Prize, among others.
