Lothar Kuhn has been leading the Communications department at the non-profit Mercator Foundation since April 2022. He studied Biochemistry at the University of Witten/Herdecke and completed a traineeship at the Georg von Holtzbrinck School for Business Journalists. After working at Handelsblatt, WirtschaftsWoche, and Capital, he became the deputy editor-in-chief at Harvard Business Manager. In 2012, as founding editor-in-chief, he launched the German edition of the British science magazine New Scientist. He then returned to WirtschaftsWoche as the head of the Innovation & Digital department. In 2017, he was part of the founding team of Edison, a new media brand focused on topics like mobility, energy, and digitalization, where he served as deputy editor-in-chief. Since 2020, he has been responsible for the Communications and Marketing department at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light and the Max Planck Center for Physics and Medicine in Erlangen.
