Karolina Kaltschnee studied Sinology, Romance Studies and Slavic Studies at the University of Cologne. Since 2020, she has worked as a freelance reporter for outlets such as stern, Zeit Magazin, Tagesspiegel, GEO, Deutschlandfunk and NZZ, covering political and societal issues with a focus on Poland and North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2024, she was named Journalist of the Year by Medium Magazin alongside a cross-media team. Since 2023, she has collaborated on the Mentoring@NRW project with the Neue Deutsche Medienmacher*innen.
