Julia Jäckel is the founder and editor-in-chief of Tegernsee Weekly, an independent hyper-local outlet covering the Tegernsee valley in Bavaria. Since 2024 she has built it single-handedly: reporting, newsletter, Instagram, ad sales and strategy. Her aim is to show that slow, independent journalism works at a small scale too. Her Instagram reaches around 200,000 people a week, and her newsletter runs at open rates above 70 percent.
