Dr. Jana Rick completed her doctorate at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) at the Chair of Journalism Research on the topic of journalists leaving the profession. After studying communication science in Italy and Austria, she worked as a research assistant in a funded research project on precarity in journalism from 2019 to 2024. Since this year, she has been working as a post-doc at LMU, as a lecturer, researcher and study program coordinator. Her research interests include the working conditions of journalists and journalistic work in general. She also works as a freelance journalist in local journalism.
