Ulrich Schaper is an advisor to the executive board of Westfälische Medien Holding (WMH), where he is driving the transformation of this long-established media company into the future. As an Agile Coach, OKR champion, and trained editor, he combines journalistic craftsmanship with modern methods and a clear conviction: Journalism serves a social function—and that function can still be fulfilled in the digital age. Above all, however, it requires trust and connection. His path led him from a business degree (Business Administration/VWA) through several years of research and teaching at the University of Münster to a career in journalism. As a freelancer, he wrote for, among others, the science section of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. At the same time, he spent many years in local and regional journalism, most recently in the central newsroom of Aschendorff Verlag.
