Simone Mergen focuses on audience-oriented history communication in museums. Since 2022, she has been leading the Education and Visitor Services Department at the House of the History of the Federal Republic of Germany, where she is an expert in exhibition didactics, educational programs, and audience research. She is currently working intensively on a complete redesign of the permanent exhibition at the House of History.

Previously, she held various positions at the Jewish Museum Frankfurt, the State Museum Koblenz, and the NS Documentation Center in Cologne. As a lecturer at the Institute of History at the University of Cologne, chairperson of the Museum Education Association of North Rhine-Westphalia, member of the Education Working Group of the German Museum Association, and co-founder of the Visitor Research Network, she is committed to shaping the museums of the future. She studied History and German at the University of Bonn.
