Christina Elmer is Professor of Digital Journalism and Data Journalism at TU Dortmund University. Previously, she held various positions in the editorial team at DER SPIEGEL, most recently as Deputy Head of Development. From 2017 to 2019, she was a member of the editorial leadership team at SPIEGEL ONLINE. She is a shareholder of AlgorithmWatch, serves on the board of Netzwerk Recherche, and was named Science Journalist of the Year 2016 by MEDIUM MAGAZIN. Her previous positions include working as a data journalist on the investigative reporting team at STERN and at DPA, as well as completing a journalism traineeship at WDR in Cologne and Münster. She studied journalism and biology at TU Dortmund University.
