I am a news reporter at DW News. I mainly cover South Asia, West Asia, and how world powers interact with this region. I also love telling complex social stories from this region. I have become much more aware of one thing: the importance of multiple perspectives. We often report on deeply contentious conflicts, which can be frustrating. I resolve this issue by ensuring I include the voices of relevant stakeholders in my reports. I give a voice to the people and parties being impacted. Sometimes this even fosters dialogue, whether among our users or even between affected parties in a conflict. It’s reporting as bridge-building. I also try to humanize those affected. My job is not to be neutral but to be truthful. Showing the truth about one person in a conflict doesn't mean portraying the other as a villain. In fact, I strive to accurately represent an accused party. It's a delicate balance, but as journalists, it's our duty to provide an accurate and truthful picture, allowing our viewers to make informed decisions.
