Bastian Schlange helped establish and now heads the local editorial office of the German non-profit investigative platform CORRECTIV.Ruhr in Essen. In 2019, the CORRECTIV.Climate editorial office was added. He received the Axel Springer Prize for Investigative Research for an undercover investigation. Since 2020, Schlange has been a single father - one of the reasons he moved from the editorial department to CORRECTIV.Verlag, where he supervises book projects as a content manager and writes himself. His current book is Das einzig wahre Faktencheckbuch (2023) (transl: The Only Real Fact Checking Book). Before joining CORRECTIV, Schlange co-founded the Wattenscheider Schule, an experimental site for unconventional undercover and gonzo reporting. He also spent several years writing up the life stories of old sailors for Ankerherz Verlag.
