Angela Boll

Angela Boll is from Mannheim; she completed her internship at the Mannheimer Morgen and worked there for over 20 years as a local reporter covering, among other things, the courts, police, and celebrities. In 2021, she developed and hosted the podcast “Verbrechen im Quadrat” for the “Mannheimer Morgen.” In 2023, Angela Boll resigned from the “Mannheimer Morgen” because she wanted to focus more on the concerns of the city’s residents. She took on public relations duties and headed the constituency office of a member of the Bundestag. Soon, she felt a growing desire to return to local journalism. In numerous conversations with publishing and editorial directors, she realized that many news outlets lacked a vision for the future of local journalism. In 2024, she therefore made a conscious decision to leave the south and took over as editorial director in Fürstenwalde, in the east, at the “Märkische Oderzeitung.” Since 2025, Angela Boll has been regional director in Cottbus and Spree-Neiße, the largest editorial office of the “Märkische Oderzeitung” and “Lausitzer Rundschau.” There, she has introduced several formats designed to foster a closer connection with readers and make local journalism more transparent. In 2022, Angela Boll was nominated for the Theodor Wolff Prize for her special reporting on the topic of “Dying During the Pandemic.”
