Born in 1972 in Bonn, Germany. Studied English, German, and Philosophy in Bonn and Oxford, followed by postgraduate studies in Theater, Film, and Television Criticism in Munich. Has been working with the Bonner General-Anzeiger since the mid-1990s. From 2001, he has written for the arts and culture, and panorama sections of the Süddeutsche Zeitung, as well as the "Streiflicht" column. From 2004 to 2018, he served as the cultural correspondent in the United Kingdom. Since 2018, he has been the cultural and social affairs correspondent for North Rhine-Westphalia.
