“Jugend debattiert" is a nationwide competition for school students in Germany that encourages them to engage in respectful and fair debates on political topics both in school and in everyday life. The aim is to promote students’ language skills, civic education, opinion formation, and personal development through perspective-taking and strong argumentation. With 1,500 participating schools and over 200,000 students taking part each year, Jugend debattiert is one of the largest programs for political education among young people in Germany.
