In 2025, Luxembourg digital news magazine Lëtzebuerger Journal launched 1 cm, a podcast series about inclusion in the labour market. Across six 40-minute episodes, 1 cm tells the stories of ten people with disabilities – shining a light on talent that is still overlooked because of stereotypes, at a time when employers face major labour shortages. But 1 cm was designed as more than a long-form podcast. From the beginning, we wanted the production itself to be a best practice: the medium had to be part of the message. That meant rethinking our process – from audience participation calls on social media, to working with a host with a hidden disability, to team workshops on how to communicate and collaborate respectfully, to publishing full transcripts and adapting each episode into plain-language articles in English, German, and French. This panel offers a practical behind-the-scenes look at how to build inclusive journalism formats – not by calling out mistakes, but by showing what "doing it right" can look like.
