Bettina Rühl is a freelance journalist specialising in Africa. She has been based in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, since April 2011. Her features, reports and articles appear in various programmes on German public radio, as well as in magazines and newspapers. She has received numerous awards for her reporting from and about Africa, and in 2020 was honoured with the Federal Cross of Merit. Bettina Rühl chairs the correspondents’ network weltreporter.net.

Das Publikum kann sich in Gesprächsinseln zu den Weltreporter*innen setzen und dabei mehrmals den Platz tauschen. In jeweils einer Insel sitzt ein*e Auslandskorrespondent*in aus Afrika, Asien, Nord- oder Südamerika und berichtet über aktuelle politische Ereignisse, derzeitige Recherche aus dem Berichtsgebiet und beantwortet Fragen dazu.
